Meet The Makers: Caulfield Country Boards
Caulfield Country Boards pride themselves on being a small, unique, family-run, Irish business. They create high-quality, distinctive pieces to make a house feel like a home. Their products are up-cycled and transformed from sustainably sourced hardwoods into stunning pieces for you or your friends to enjoy.
Caulfield Joinery was established by John Caulfield in 1978. He was the original joiner and ran a highly successful business that produced quality hardwood kitchens, windows, doors and furniture.
Pearse Caulfield joined the family business from a young age and completed an apprenticeship in joinery. While still working as a joiner, he decided to return to university to gain a BA in Philosophy from Trinity College.
Lousie Caulfield graduated from Trinity College with a BA in Natural Science specializing in geology. Louise then moved to Western Australia for a number of years working in an iron ore mine. She is a keen baker and upon her return to Ireland, completed an MSc in Environmental Science.
In 2012, Louise began selling baked goods at a local country market. She called upon the joinery shop to assist in making a couple of serving goods for her to display her boards, and the first wooden board was made! Customers at the market showed keen interest in the boards and began asking where they could be purchased…and so Caulfield Country Boards was born!
Due to a downturn in the economy, the joinery business slowed down. They saw a niche in the market for locally crafted wooden boards for cutting and serving, which are functional and beautiful. The products are now stocked in several shops and they supply restaurants, bars, and cafes with a wide range of dining accessories.
Caulfield Country Boards have grown into a successful business and hope to continue expanding.
