What does Valentines Day mean to you?

Is Valentine’s day different this year?

In this week’s blog, we are taking Valentine’s day, and the spirit of love. At Carrolls this year we are celebrating a little differently, sharing the love with anyone in your life like a partner, friend, family member, neighbour etc. Whoever it is you can share the love with them. In saying that we interviewed 4  people who wanted to share the love this year celebrating love, friendship, loyalty and companionship.

Tell me something about yourself: I am a mom of 3 wonderful boys, who keep me busy.

Do you think valentines are only for couples?: I think Valentine’s is a great time to appreciate all relationships. Before meeting my husband, my friends and I always had a Galentine’s day celebration.

Would you say that you are more open to showing loved ones some support/love within the last year with everything that has gone on?: Yes after this year I am sending extra nice valentines to my kid’s teachers to show them we appreciate them.

Have you ever received a bad valentine’s day present? If so, what was it?: I had a college boyfriend get me a box of lucky charms cereal. Very random.

Have you ever received a great present on Valentine’s day?:  My husband writes me a letter every Valentine’s day and leaves by the coffee maker so it’s the 1st thing I see.

Have you ever regifted something from valentines?: I have not regifted anything from valentines. It’s usually candy. And that doesn’t last long.

What does love mean to you?: Love means thinking about other people’s wants and needs and wanting the best for them.

Is there 1 person who you want to share your love with on Valentines 2021? If so tell us a little about them, your relationship with them, why they deserve your love and what they mean to you?: I am lucky enough to spend every Valentine’s with my husband. He is a very caring selfless person. Who is an amazing father and makes me a better person.

Do you think valentines are only for couples?: No its for everyone and anyone

Would you say that you are more open to showing loved ones some support/love within the last year with everything that has gone on?: Deffo. We all need to appreciate each other more and be more understanding of each other.

Have you ever received a bad valentine’s day present? If so, what was it?: Yes, a half price thing with Bear and sweets a couple of days after as he wasn’t bothered on day 😂Bear was fine. Just fact was clearly no thought or interest

Have you ever received a great present on Valentine’s day?: Yes. A picture drawn with love and put on canvas from my friend’s daughter when she was about 4 ( with help from her Mam)

Have you ever regifted something from valentines?: Yes Perfume from the same person as got rid of both

What does love mean to you?: Showing U care by putting thought in rather than expensive no thought.❤

Is there 1 person who you want to share your love with on Valentines 2021? If so tell us a little about them, your relationship with them, why they deserve your love and what they mean to you?: Hard to pick. I think my friend Catherine in Roscommon as she’s always there for me and we haven’t been able to meet past year. So be a Galentine really. Be lost without her. Been great friends since 18-19 years of age and we’re 50-51 now

Tell me something about yourself: I am a motorcycle enthusiast and have travelled all over the world on motorbikes and I look forward to my next trip. 

Do you think valentines are only for couples?: No, you can show your love for anyone

Would you say that you are more open to showing loved ones some support/love within the last year with everything that has gone on?: It has been very eye-opening, we have to support and appreciate each other more and be more tolerant of people.

Have you ever received a bad valentine’s day present?: If so, what was it? Mats for the Car floor

Have you ever received a great present on Valentine’s day?: A photo montage, it was very special to me

Have you ever regifted something from valentines?: I’ve never been caught, does that count? 

What does love mean to you?: Love is feeling supported, caring for people, being thoughtful and just being there

Is there 1 person who you want to share your love on Valentine’s 2021? If so tell us a little about them, your relationship with them, why they deserve your love and what they mean to you?: My mother’s next-door neighbor. She has been fantastic during the lockdowns checking in on her and going to the supermarket for her. Or my partner Grainne, she really looks after me, I am first in her thoughts.

Have you ever received a great present on Valentine’s day?: Yes, an away rugby trip

Have you ever regifted something from valentines?: No

What does love mean to you?: It’s being there through the good times and bad times and being great friends

Is there 1 person who you want to share your love with on Valentine’s 2021? If so tell us a little about them, your relationship with them, why they deserve your love and what they mean to you?: My husband, a great person and Dad to our two daughters does everything for us, we would be lost without him ❤️
